StormCrow had its beginnings in the Spring of 2000 in Valdosta, GA as a partnership between guitarists Rob Leeds and Jeff Leischner. After a few jam sessions they sought out co-worker Chris McCall to join the lineup on drums. The final piece of the puzzle was added when another friend, Dave Nix, overheard to the two guitarists talk about their new band. Dave volunteered his prior experience on bass, and StormCrow was complete. The band managed to pull off a couple small gigs in Valdosta before their jobs required them to relocate. Rob, Jeff, and Dave all moved to Albuquerque, where they soon hooked up with drummer Clark Pollard, former member of Albuquerque bands Phat Kat and Black & White. The bond was instantaneous; StormCrow was re- formed. The new combination started playing Albuquerque clubs in the Spring of 2004. Throughout the year the group added steadily to their list of music written by frontman Rob Leeds. StormCrow finished up their debut CD “Consuming the Night”, which was released in Albuquerque in Feb 2005. Their sound is shaped by Rob’s influences from timeless bands such as Aerosmith and Metallica to the more modern sounds of Creed, Staind, and Godsmack. With a blend of these styles, the group developed their own signature sound. StormCrow became a regular part of the Albuquerque music scene, playing both cover venues like Kelly's, Misty's and Backstreet Bar and Grill. On the original song circuit, they were often seen at Burt's Tiki Lounge and Golden West Saloon. They also played the Launch Pad and Atomic Cantina. Another relocation to the Fort Walton Beach, FL area, has led to the opportunity to play with two new talented musicians, John Hoffman (Bass) and Todd Hanning (Drums). Following four successful FL shows, the band is still on the lookout for more work along the Emerald Coast. |
